Hello and thanks for stopping by my terribly and not-too-thought-out-titled blog. Anyway, I’m Kazz, a passionate self-taught designer/dressmaker and graphic designer living in Melbourne, Australia. I am a mum of two beautiful, now grown up, kiddies, a wife of 30+ years (who is counting), and a qualified graphic designer.

Long before I embraced the hum of the sewing machine, my creative juices were churning in a different arena: graphic design. I started my career designing bold, vibrant prints for various clients, reveling in the magic of turning a simple sketch into a complex piece of art. But something was missing. As I sat there, staring at my designs on a screen, a thought kept niggling at the back of my mind, “What if I could wear my designs?”

I was itching to bring my designs to life in a way that was more tangible, more personal. I wanted to wear my art, literally. And that’s how I found myself venturing into the realm of sewing.

Armed with a needle and thread, I dove headfirst into the deep sea of fabric swatches and patterns. At first, my sewing machine seemed like a beast from another planet, all growls and jerks. You know the feeling, right?

With time and practice, I tamed the beast. I fell in love with the whole process; from the initial design right through to the final stitch. It was like watching a story unfold, stitch by stitch, and before I knew it, I was a fully-fledged, bobbin-bouncing seamstress with an eye for detail.

Over the years, I’ve picked up quite a bit of knowledge, like a spool collecting thread. So, why not share this thread of wisdom, right?

That’s when the idea for this blog was born. I wanted to create a space where I could help others navigate the winding world of sewing. Whether you’re just starting out or an experienced tailor, I’m here to lend a helping hand and maybe a laugh or two.
