How do you like to stay organised? Do you write daily in a journal with a beautiful pen, your goals, moods, dreams, recipes, food diary, shopping lists, hair and dental appointments, affirmations, birthdays, blog ideas, sketches etc? yep! Moleskine is my choice, some people love to keep it all on their iphones and sync to their computers setting alerts, I too do this.
Each year I purchase myself a new Moleskine, I love the simplicity the look and feel of Moleskine I like that it’s compact and hardy, It suits me just fine, jeez I even like the smell of it. I love the appointment stickers they pop in the back pocket along with a pop-out address book. It’s my companion. I have customised mine to look very clean and Swiss inspired and I alternate each year from red to black purely because it looks good on the shelf. I’m sure my children will enjoy my ramblings when they are older and have experienced what is to come, and as I look back I can say ‘what was I thinking?’ and have a giggle at who I was in 2008.
This weekly planner sits next to me on my work station and keeps me in check through-out the week, we all know how hectic things get with work, school and other appointments, it’s great for planning meals and quick to-do’s. Kikki.K—secretly my favourite stationery store ever! even have meal planners, Love It! I’ll have to get Steve one.

I was lucky enough to receive an ipad for my birthday so naturally I ventured down the Google path to the ‘Top 10 Apps for ipad’ to keep my social media reads in order. Enter Flipboard it takes your, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and RSS feeds and puts them in a simple, slick and easy to read format that is similar to a magazine. It has completely changed the way I view my feeds, and because it is in magazine form it makes my internet-reading-time ever so enjoyable. It’s dead sexy! Beats Google Reader which I have used for years. Yay for change.
If you just want to read your RSS/subscription feeds then I would recommend RSS 5000, a subscription browser. You can view all of your blogs in their natural environment instead of just boring old text. It makes your precious internet time more enjoyable and fancy. I rather like a bit of fancy!
TeuxDeux is pretty damn good for the everyday to-do’s and organisation. I use this at work and sync it with my phone. It’s simple clean and reliable. Besides in my opinion anything SwissMiss does is a winner.
Action Method is another great to-do App/online tool, a little too indepth for what I need but you may benefit from it’s many nooks and crannies.
What do you like to use? Do you use pen and paper or just stick to your handy digital devices?
So I won’t bore you to tears with my tedious psycho babble on why these are my Top 10 Albums of 2010because frankly we all know you and I don’t have the time to write or read the reasons and I believe you really don’t care however I like to write lists and document; it’s a genetic thing so I’ll give you pictures with a small brief, how’s that sound?
Out of the shit load of music I purchased this year this is what made my top 10, it was freakin hard to narrow down so here goes…
1.
Kanye West- My Dark Twisted Beautiful Fantasy: Masterpiece! Yep Yeezy did it! Yeezy taught me. Let Yeezy teach you. Gather around children zip it listen.
2.
James Murphy I just want to hug you! Have you read the lyrics to ‘I can Change’? it makes me cry! Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant album.
3.
If you like Connie Francis, Patsy Cline, Shangri-La’s, Best Coasts- Crazy In Love picks up where they left off so very girly, full of little stories, It’s tops.
4.
Arcade Fire-The Suburbs, Superb! Hypnotic, broody, leaves you feeling heavy in a good way like a good book.
5.
Warpaint-The Fool, Beautiful! If you were to dive into the ocean and rest on the ocean floor this would be the soundtrack.
6.
Grinderman-Grinderman 2. Mischievious, Rowdy, Dirty, just the way I like it! The man is a genius.
7.

The Chemical Brothers-Further. Superb, immersive, melodic and dead danceable just like every other Chemicals album.
8.
Dum Dum Girls- I will Be. Think: Stooges, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cramps. Awesome garage fuzz guitar rock, stoner girls in leather. I love that the production is raw. It shits all over Vivian Girls. Just saying.
9.
Beach House-Teen Dream. It took me a long time to get into this album, in the end I was emotionally engaged its textural and full of dynamics, I can hear Stevie Nicks in her (Victoria Legrand) vocals. It’s definitely a grower.
10.
Zola Jesus-Stridulum II, I fell in love with Zola one early morning while watching Rage. Gothic, dark, moody, Siouxsie Sioux vocals, she won me over that easy. It’s a brilliant brilliant album.
Honourable Mentions: Wavves- Post Acid, The Walkmen-Lisbon, Foals-Total Life Forever, MIA- Kala, arrr I’d better stop.
What was your Number 1 album of 2010?
My little family made our much needed annual trip to Sydney to visit family and friends. I can’t say it has changed too much but it sure was lovely catching up with everyone. Thank you to everyone who made our week a treat. Here is what we got up to.
I do love the drive, I can read and not get car sick or I can daydream about the year to come while listening to my top 10 albums of 2010. It’s when work disappears and a heavy weight lifts and I find myself actually relaxing.
Christmas tree decorating is a skill, something I don’t take too much care with, I hang my christmas decorations like I hang my washing…turn around and throw! above are images of skilled family members christmas decorations.
I am an Aunty! an extremely proud one. Christmas shopping is a hoot and I thoroughly enjoyed choosing individual gifts for each and everyone of them this year. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to capture my brothers four towering ninja’s in my photo snapping ventures. They are so tall you would have to scroll at least twenty times on your mouse to get to the bottom of this post. I love you towering Ninja’s I do.
An Aunty to twelve awesomely gorgeous individuals. I am a very lucky girl.
My dad has a knack of getting us all very drunk, pressuring us into rounds of killer at $5 a game! he wins every time. His hideous green stubbies are always jingling with coin.
Three generations right there. My sister, my mummy and my daughter. When we are all together it’s trouble with a capital T. Sorry mum I know you’ll hate this photo but it was the only decent one of me.
This is the house I grew up in! after thirty two wonderful years my Mum and Dad have decided to move on and start a new chapter to their lives and the good news is that they will only be three hours away from us so I can drop the kids off whenever and make a right mess of myself at some of these infamous bars hidden in good ol’ Melbourne town. See you in a couple of weeks mum. In all seriousness though it was so nice to have us all together; swimming, laughing, drinking, eating and just holding one another for what could be the last time for a very long time to come.
A massive thank you to these wonderfully good looking hosts who really don’t mind us crashing their humble home in the hills when we come to visit. You guys are the best!!! We hope to return the favour very soon, thank you thank you, thank you xxx
Boxing Day was spent at Mick and Sylv’s “The House That Mick Built” the English Irvin Bar was arranged to accommodate ten adults and six kids. I don’t know how Sylv does it!! You guys are fabulous! thank you always for a wonderful Boxing Day lunch and for sharing the fond memories we all have of the Dead Ringer days with those amazing photo albums you both put together. THANK YOU!!!
There is something about their eyes, dogs have so much character and slobber. I am a crazy cat lady and my love of dogs stops at this photo. They smell when they get wet however they are all adorable in their own furry ways. Woof!
I drank my weight in Margarita’s. I was sucking them down so fast I drank myself sober. I could totally load myself up every afternoon on margarita juice and dance around the house to early Bowie songs if I could, but that would take the fun out of margarita time with friends; I need to find a happy medium.
One sunny day we parked our barnacles on the Opera House steps after walking around Sydney Harbour most of the day. I love the Harbour it’s my favourite part of Sydney.
I am totally digging that my legs are the same colour as the Opera House! ha what a coincidence! you couldn’t get that in a can if you tried.
My best Tommy Ton for Jak & Jil Blog impersonation. If you don’t follow you’ll have no idea what I’m babbling on about. Just move on down this post.
What’s a holiday without a shocking game of Beat the Buzzer, a round of Killer, a win on Keno and a ‘Final Countdown’ with the Spicks and Specks board game.
…and my favourite is definitely the catching up with old friends, thanks for the fun times you lovely lot you! …. it’s back home we go! See you all again soon. Have a Happy and prosperous new year xx
How was your break? what did you get up to?
